Andover Junior Tri – 10 July 2016

This was the final race in the South Central Series.  Despite the traffic issues on the A34 everyone made it to the venue of Farleigh School.  At the end of this event the Inter Regional Championship selection squad would be announced.

The setting was again perfect for the bike and a run but a longer run to T1 from the swimming pool.  Despite the bike being on a perfect surface the course had a few surprises with a steady incline on one side of the course and a good downhill section on the other.  But to hamper all triathletes there was as strong summer wind right across the course.  The run course was a circular route again with a slight incline to hurt those already tired legs.

Representing TSS on his own was Thomas Roberts who crossed the line in 2nd place in a time of 11:11.  Thomas has been so close to the podium this season and his patience finally paid off.

TS1 the distance was 132m swim, 2km bike and 1.2km run.  TCJ was represented by Jake 4th in a time of 16:21 and Aaron 9th 17:15.

Next up were the TS2’s 176m swim, 4 km bike and 1.8km run well done to Maelana, Isobel and Lucy.

TS3 race distances were 220m swim, 6km bike and 2.4km run.  Well done to Katie who after a frustrating time in transition, as her helmet went missing!! came 6th in a time of 31.27, Mabel 9th 33.02 and Ielena. Representing the boys were Daniel 2nd in a time of 28:25, Harvey Jones 10th 30.29 and closely followed by Max, George and Harry.

There was much waiting around for the South Central Series results, and I am very pleased to announce that Team Cherwell Juniors came away with Thomas Roberts 1st and Freddy Ingram 2nd in the Tri Start Series. Daniel Roberts came 1st in Tri Star 3, which gained him automatic entry into the IRC at Strathclyde Park Glasgow in September – Well Done and Good Luck Daniel!  Max Morgan came 6th and Katie Pamphlett came 4th in the girls series.

Both Max and Katie have been selected to attend an IRC selection event to see if they will make the final 3 selection squad who will also travel to Strathclyde.  Good luck to them both.
