There was a large turnout from Team Cherwell at the Blenheim Triathlon, taking place within the palace’s World Heritage Site. The race, made up of a 750m open water swim, 20km bike and 5km run, covers an undulating route, including a notorious uphill run from the lake to the transition onto the bike. The race was won by Olympic gold medalist Alistair Brownlee who was continuing his preparations for the upcoming standard distance race in Leeds this weekend in a time of 0:58:01 . Selected Team Cherwell finishers included Rab Saunders (1:31:05), Beverley Hamblet-Bowes (2:13:57), James Wilson (1:30:37), Sam Brown (1:41:36), and husband and wife competitors Mike and Caroline Chanides completed the race in 1:28:02 and 1:46:03 respectively.
The Blenheim race doesn’t allow you to search club names so identifying who raced can be tricky. If you raced and would like to be featured please let me know via the details here.
